A Secial Day

Kyndal's birthday has always fallen during the week/weekend of spring break and I started a tradition when she turned five of skipping work for a day and spending it together doing whatever she chooses. So far I've had to remind her every year about her special day which surprises me as she has such a great memory.

She had a hard time thinking of how to spend our time together....but we quickly filled the hours. We started (of course) with donuts from La Mars. She wanted to go shopping for new flip flops but we needed to burn an hour while waiting for the stores to open so we stopped by the Capitol, we have never taken a tour there so I was excited she agreed to it.

We took some quick pictures outside even though it was super chilly and windy. She was a great sport!

After our tour we swung by Barnes & Noble and she picked out a puzzle book for her kid sister's birthday (which is only two days after her own.) Then it we were off to Old Navy to stock up on flip flops for the spring! We then hit up a candy store and Eileen's cookies for some sweets to savor later.

After planning our afternoon we buzzed over to Red Robin's for some lunch. We split a milkshake for dessert :o)
After lunch, my generous daughter agreed to share the end of her special day with her little brother. He was a great sport about going to the Y without her that day, broken arm and all. We surprised him when we picked him up early and headed to watch the movie, Rango. About 3/4 of the way through I could tell he was getting either restless or uncomfortable and I invited him to sit on my lap. He curled up and was asleep in minutes!

That was the end of our day, but just the beginning of celebrating sweet Kyndal's birthday!
